Artist Statement
I enjoy experimenting with several mediums through my art, however a medium that I always find enjoyable is creating graphic and digital designs. Through this specific medium, I have created a digital illustration that highlights the environmental issues affecting the Bay Area.
To create these digital designs, I used techniques of brainstorming, outlining, gathering images of trash, and using photoshop to trace and place the pieces of trash meticulously to create the subject I desired. I then added realistic features to each of the graphics to enhance the representation of the image.
Through this work, my goal is to shed light onto this issue of trash pollution and express the elements of impact on our environment. I decided to base the project from the Bay Area because it was where I grew up. I hope that my art serves as a symbol of these challenges and that it is used as a motion for change.

Description
Through each of these works, my goal is to create meaningful digital illustrations highlighting the environmental issues in the Bay Area. Above, you'll see three graphics I designed to represent different aspects of certain issues being the general environment, the local wildlife, and the specific challenges facing the Bay.
My hope is that through Plastic Roots, Entangled, and Poppy that they raise awareness about how our planet is transforming into Roots of Waste. We’ve known our Earth in the past to thrive and nurture, but because of the 57 million tons of plastic pollution accumulating every year, we are now left with widespread environmental destruction.
Materials
I used photoshop to create each of the graphics. I would first trace out parts of trash from different images and then applied each piece to an outline of the image I wanted to create. All details and everything within the three graphics are solely made out of trash.
I created an interactive website by using WIX.
